This question is for anyone out there who used to use dye (highlights, etc.) and has converted to henna. I've been trying to grow out my overly processed hair (highlights, base color, lowlights) but the roots are driving me nuts. Has anyone else out there used henna on processed hair? I don't want to go red, just back to my natural light brown. Any henna color suggestions? Also, using the Morrocco Method is just the first step for me in converting to a natural healthy life. Any other suggestions for healthy living site? I want to learn how to cook healthy, and treat my body better.
Thanks for you time!!

Becky, I have light brown / dark blonde hair with blonde highlights. My roots are driving me crazy and are about four inches long now. I just got my spring cut and it took a lot of the blonde off and my old layers. I have some blonde on the ends which looks weird but I didn't want to go any shorter. It is a bob length now, not quite to the shoulders. I have ordered the marigold henna and when I get it I will let you know what happens. I'm nervous about it, but since I picked Marigold I don't think anything drastic will happen so it should go okay. I think it will probably just condition it and perk things up a little bit. I was going to try the light brown color but my hair is really in between so I went with the lighter color henna.
As far as healthy living goes I have learned a lot from Marilu Henner's books and website. It's all about healthy eating to whatever degree you want to take it.

I haven't tried them yet. My first order is scheduled to arrive on Monday. I will let you know what happens. I was going to wait until the blonde all grew out, but I am encouraged by the other posts here that people are putting the henna over the old chemical processing. I know it won't lighten but if it could put a little spark in my darker hair and sort of tone down the nearly-platinum old highlights, it might make things look less drastic. I might need to order some light brown for the highlighted ends though. I also ordered the styling gel and the shampoo and conditioner totes. You should get on their mailing list if you haven't already done so. Also, last thing, I thought my hair was getting thinner in the past five years, but actually it was because I was getting layers cut in it to make it look fuller. Now that it is blunt it feels and LOOKS thicker and healthier. So I can't wait to try these products to make it even better. I will be doing the henna immediately so I will hopefully have something to report back about on Tuesday.

Lynn,
I got the shampoo and conditoner travel sizes last week. The only one I had trouble with was the conditioner oil. I think my hair is too oily for it. Also, I had some difficulty mixing the zen detox, but I think that's because I didn't use natural water. My hair has definately been going through detox the past week. I was very scared by the shampoos because they don't foam at all and they are brow and look like mud. It took some getting used to because these are the first all natural products I've ever used. I'm definately going to be keeping up the regime though. Even though my hair seems to be going through detox,it's still better than it looked using all the chemicals! My husband says it's "not as soft" but like I said, I'm still in detox phase. I've also been doing the brushing and massaging routine which I think is also really going to help my hair. It'll be intersting to see if it grows longer, faster and stonger. I sure hope so! My hair is so damaged from years of dying and using harsh chemical shampoos and stying aids. The ends were breaking off even after regular trims. Also, I've never been able to get my hair to grow much past my shoulders since 6th grade. And since that's when I started experimenting with hair color, which probably explains it. Anywho, I'm really excited to continue the morrocco method and I can't wait to see what my hair looks like in a month from now! I should take before/ after pictures. Right now my hair is a little past my shoulders. I just got a blunt cut that cut out most of my layers and I like it SO MUCH better. Stylists were always telling me to put layers in it because my hair is so fine and lacks volume. But like you, my hair feels much more volumous now that it's a blunt cut!

Becky, Questions!
Do these products have a scent? I really don't care what they smell like but I do worry about a lingering scent. If they smell like earth that is fine with me! I am sensitive to smells, even natural ones sometimes, especially floral. By reading the ingredients I don't think I am going to have a problem. I have been through these postings and no one has ever mentioned any problem about how they smell. If these work out I am going to use them on my whole body as suggested and try the Euro oil for a moisturizer. Did you get any of the styling gel? If so, do you think I can use it for brow gel? Does it have a scent?

Lynn,
All of the shampoos and conditoners have an "earthy" scent. That's the only way I know how to describe it. I've gotten used to the smell. At first I didn't like it because I was used to the way drug-store brand shampoos smelled. But I like the smells now. The only time you can really smell them is in the shower. Once you've rinsed and dried your hair, there is no lingering smell. I do have the hair gel as well. This one probably has the strongest smell, but again, it's earthy. I've only used the hair gel once. I got it so that I could get some volume in my hair and I've always used mouse or gel or hairspray to do this. But I've found that I have natural volume using the MM shampoos and conditoners, so I don't even use the gel! I'm sure it would be okay to use on your eyebrows. I'm trying to convince my husband to use the gel because he uses really harsh Suave gel now. He doesn't like how the gel "looks" in the tub because it's thicker looking than other gel, but I'm still trying to convice him to use it. I'm sure he will once his other stuff runs out!
As far as the Euro oil, I'm using that as a body moisturizer now because my hair is too oily to use it on. Maybe once I've gone through detox, I will try it again on my hair. But it works really nicely as a body moisturizer. I put it on when I get out of the shower and it absorbs very quickly into my skin and doesn't leave a greasy residue! I have not tried the shampoos as a body wash/face wash yet. Anthony suggested two of the shampoos for bodywash/facewash. I believe it was the Earth and Water but I'm not positive. Check the older comments...one of the last pages I believe. As soon as I get my bigger bottles of shampoo I will try that.
Sorry my postings are so long!

Thanks for the info! I am glad they smell earthy, I can be happy with that. I am obsessed wtih my eyebrows. One has two hairs that stick up in the arch and if I trim them they will stick out forward and if I pluck them they might create a skip so I have tried different things to get them to conform. So far, gels and clear mascara are useless and chemically and waxes kind of work, but not very well. Someone suggested hairspray but that seems harsh near my eye. This gel might just what I am looking for especially if it is thick. Or maybe even the volumizer mist if it has a hold to it.
I will report back with my henna findings. I only ordered one box so it should be enough for two applications. I will do both next week and see what happens. Then decide if I want to go with a darker shade or order more marigold. I am long-winded too!

DEAR LADIES
thank you for all of your comments, suggestions and postings.
my comments:
PLEASE DO NOT USE HAIR SPRAY of any kind.
All hairsprays contain PAINT/LACQUOR.
thats correct --- all hairsprays are Literally lacquor/paint the same chemical we paint our wood with, shocking but TRUE!
also hairsprays are very carcinogenic a now proven fact!
also do not use our volumizer mist nor diamond crystal mist so close to ones eyes. Our eyes are very sensitive and need to be honored as such.
yes use the Blood of the Dragon styling gel anywhere its 100% Natural and safe. Good for eyebrows as its also conditioning. Please do not get this in your eyes. If so - rinse out with cool water.
As for your husbands using a commercial styling gel.
Please read up on "MOUSSE ABUSE" its on our website under educational literature. ALL STYLING GELS contain POLYMERS and other carcinogenic ingredients. Polymers are LITERALLY LIQUID PLASTICS.
These Polymers are guaranteed to cause Hair Loss/Thinning not to mention they too are very carcinogenic!
As for our Henna's they are 100%Plant!
No Additives. No Chemicals. No synthetic coloring agents.
They are Wild Crafted Organic Henna's and very safe.
For hair color this is the only ONLY TRULY ONLY SAFE HAIR COLORING.
Please see the American Cancer Site for cancer causing ingredients in ALL OF THE HAIR COLORING DYES, BLEACHES and even in the
so called semi Natural haircoloring products!
please see:
www.breastcancerfund.org
"Many beauty products you use every day - shampoos, nail polish and hair dyes/bleaches contain chemicals linked to breast cancer.
And worst, it's perfectly legal for cosmetics companies to sell these products to you!"
so please be educated and read all labels. Ask questions on any and all products you buy especially in the cosmetic industry. there are no regulations with the fda, none.
two long winded posts deserve another one.
thank you for going truly natural - simple pure.
Our committement is to educate and inspire more people like yourselves to protect yourself, families, loved ones and communities from CHEMCIALS that are now proven carcinogens as a matter of fact.
wishing You Great Health and Happiness

Hi lynn,
I'll be going to Chicago for the next 5 days. I probably won't have computer access, so I won't get to hear about your Henna Experince until I get back. I can't wait to hear about it though! I'm sure that'll be the next thing I try.
Have a great weekend!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ladies:
I am about 50% or more gray, and have been dying my hair with Godwell for about 15 years. I color my hair every 2 weeks, because my hair grows fast and I can't stand the roots.
About 3 months ago I started using Anthony's henna instead of hair dye, and I love it. Also, even with my gray, I use a one step process.
First, my hair dresser applies the light brown henna to my roots , puts a plastic cap over my hair and I sit under a hair dryer for 30 minutes. Then, she applies the henna to the rest of my hair, and I sit under the hair dryer for another 30 minutes. (Anthony -- I know you probably disapprove of the hair dryer.) I end up with the most beautiful, even color, and absolutely no gray.
I was afraid of using henna, but now I probably won't use anything else ever again. I am trying to tone down the red (I use the light brown henna), but I am working on this.

Thank you dl;nne9 for the information. I will do my processed parts first. I recieved my products yesterday. I am doing the Zen detox tonight and the henna tomorrow. I was very pleased with how these products smell, earthy but kind of like the beach but without the fish smell! I used some volumizer spray yesterday and I felt like I was on vacation. I can't wait to get started.

I can't wait to hear about your henna experience Lynn! I'm really tempted to try it, but I don't want to be reddish at all. Let me know how it turns out!

Hi - I am finishing up my trial packs and placing an order for full sizes of everything - love it all!
Question on the hennas - how would you describe Copper vs. Sherry? My hair is naturally dark red, and I really want to make it more vibrant, but NOT more burgundy or darker. It's quite dark as is. I know henna doesn't lighten the hair, but I'd like to find a tone to enhance the gold and copper shades. I really want to avoid a harsh red, and although I love the burgundy tones, I don't want those this time around, either.
Any guidance for me?

Is the RED henna a blue(cool) or orange (warm) based red?
What about the SHERRY henna, how does it differ from the RED?

Hello
I am curious about the lady who said she is 50% grey and was using Godwell but now with henna she uses a 2 stop process. My hair is 50% grey and I get it colored a dark copper. Anthony said mix 1/2 red and 1/2 dk brown but the web site says to use black as the first step on hair over 30% grey. So does this become a two or three step process for me? Black on the roots and then half and half of red and drk brown for the second application?
Also, how does the following effect the color:
1) clorine
2) Burts beeswax

Hi Bridgetm,
As far as I remember, the Copper was more of a bright orange (think Bozo the Clown), while the Sherry was closer to red (though still not a true ruby red, as it does have some orange in it). Both are warm colors, without any of the cooler shades (like the blood-red of garnet gemstones, or wine-red, or plum/purple) that some reds have.
Anthony (or anyone who can answer), what is the difference between Red, Mahogany and Burgundy?
Thanks in advance!

Ciao Anthony!
Is red and black, e.g., as opposed to brown, used for STEP 1 because of chakras (i.e., root)?
Many Thanks and Blessings,

I'm very interested in all this grey-cover talk. I have grey coming in sporadically after 65 years of no grey. I had color and highlights for 10 years, and perms before that - now nearly all grown out.
I'm loving the Morrocco products and making good progress with hair health, BUT - I don't like all the grey.
What's the general opinion on using liquid from simmering the sage herb to get rid of grey? Or is it better to try the Henna products? What results did you all get? I, too, dread getting red hair. Mine goes red v. fast.
Grateful for any help here.

Hi Anthony,
Me again. I really, really would like to know if I should go ahead with the Sage liquid. It sounds like it should work okay as it is natural enough. Would very much appreciate professional advice though. What do you think?

I tried emailing you direct via Morrocco address but got reply to say you only respond on the Forum, hence my repeat note as I've not yet seen anything.
Thanks.

ab,
anthony responds to most of the posts on the general Ask Questions forum. There are many Q&As about henna on that one already, but I'm sure if you post there, anthony will answer. he seems to respond to most questions daily.

Anthony and staff,
Thank you for the gifts with order! The shampoo is awesome ! The hair gel is so subtle and keeps hair soft. My students commented on 'different' look after 2 days. Will be trying the Henna this week end...can hardly wait.
Thank you again. Looking forward to a life time of your products.

I am using the medium brown henna to cover grey. It works so well....and I am most pleased. My hair in youth was very dark rich brown almost black , wearing it long. After switching to short cuts, and not pleased with professional ...too formal, I began cutting my own hair 2 years ago which I love doing. Now I wish to experiment.
If using medium brown henna, which shall I choose for highlight spurts around face ? The cut is jagged, wispy, and a bit spiked on top. The Dragon product works beautifully.subtlely in shaping. Thank you for awesome products. They feel wonderful I feel wonderful. I will be giving a formal testimonial soon due to a hair root damage from teen years. I am still working on it with your products. Thank you much. Peace, joyfulsun

I have a question relating to something we discussed 2 years ago. Henna on it's own is difficult to apply. So I like to put it in a paper towel tied with a rubber band. Then I boil it in hot water till the color comes out. When I have henna tea, then I thicken with corn starch to make a gel. This is easy to apply and doesn't clogg my drains. I can also use much less then I need, thus, saving money. Only problem is that my dark blond hair with natural platium streaks, looks exactly the same, only, prehaps a little shiner. It is only around Arm pit lenght. My hair is straight, fine, and low volume (thin) so it doesn't seem to need that much henna even when conventionally applied. Avigal Hazel ( ash blonde ) did nothing for me. Is your henna more potent?
Offline
Wow - Been a while since I've ordered, and the henna has certainly changed. I used to love and use both Copper and Sherry. They are not available now. :(
Has anyone used the Yellow Gold henna? I find it intriguing, as I am always after a brighter color to my hair (naturally dark red), and the color change I got from Copper, Sherry or Red Morrocco Method henna was always very subtle and natural (beautiful, too, I might add). Actually, even right after doing a treatment, nobody could tell a difference in tone. I could detect a bit of brightening, and glorious shine, but no big color change.
Would Yellow Gold be "safe" for me to use since my hair is so dark?
Thanks!

I will be a first-time user of henna - already have the products that I need. Per the instructions leaflet, it is suggested to use the neutral henna for a first application. Do you use the same steps as the colored henna, such as, wrapping in plastic for 2 hours, etc? Then, how long after using the neutral henna can I apply the colored henna, same day or 1 day after or when?
The earlier I get a response to my questions, the sooner I can start using the products.
Thank you very much.
